An Embedded Based Finger Vein Recognition System for Mobile Devices

--In this project, we propose a real-time embedded finger-vein recognition system (FVRS) for authentication on mobile devices. The system is implemented on an embedded platform and equipped with a novel finger-vein recognition algorithm. Finger vein authentication is a new biometric method utilizing the vein patterns inside one’s fingers for personal identity verification. Vein patterns are different for each finger and for each person. . The proposed system takes only about 0.8 seconds to verify one input finger-vein sample and achieves an equal error rate (EER) of 0.07% on a database of 100 subjects. The proposed system consists of image acquisition module, embedded main board, and human machine communication module. RFID module will start the very initial communication between the user and the device. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed finger-vein recognition system is qualified for authentication on mobile devices.
